Jake Paul says boxing career is in doubt over injuries from Anthony Joshua fight

Jake Paul says his boxing career is “definitely” in doubt due to the injuries he sustained during his defeat to British heavyweight Anthony Joshua in December.
After Joshua broke his jaw in two places during their heavyweight fight in Miami, Paul was fitted with two titanium plates and had some of his teeth removed.
The YouTuber, formerly a boxer, went six rounds with two-time world heavyweight champion Joshua, but the bout was stopped after Paul failed to beat the count after being knocked down multiple times.
“I will have new scans on my jaw in a few days to get updated on the healing process. Let’s see what the doctors say,” he said on The Ariel Helwani Show.
“I think I’ll be able to get a more accurate time frame, maybe even fight again? That’s definitely within the realm of possibility.”
“I’m feeling a lot better as the weeks go on, but I definitely need to be cleared to play. I’m keeping fit and enjoying the training with gloves. I’m always in the gym no matter what.”
Paul’s loss to Joshua saw the 29-year-old fall from the WBA cruiserweight rankings. His previous opponents largely consisted of boxers who were much older than former mixed martial artists.
Earlier this month, Nakisa Bidarian, his partner at Most Valuable Promotions, told BBC Sport Paul was eyeing a return to cruiserweight.
But when asked if his boxing future was in doubt, Paul said: “Absolutely. I think it just depends on how the bone heals and then there’s the missing tooth – I’m pretty sure I’ll have to get some sort of implant.”
“I don’t know how much time this is going to add to things. But for me, we need to see and figure out what the smartest thing is.”
