While there, the royal couple met with local traders, schoolchildren and members of the public, enjoying live music and performances that brought the square to life and reflected the town’s rich cultural environment. But there was one moment that caught people’s attention.

While the Queen, dressed in light blue, was greeting the public, she saw a puppy waiting for her next to her owners in front of the barriers.

The Queen wasted no time in picking up the little dog and giving it her full attention.

The four-legged baby, eight-month-old Teddy, responded with hugs and kisses galore as the crowd behind them, including the Queen’s security, melted away.

Royal fans were touched by the Queen’s special get-together, with one fan writing on X: “Look at this cuteness.” [emotional emoji].”

Another added: “So cute!”

Earlier, Camilla met victims of domestic violence in the town, supported by the Women’s Aid Society.

His Majesty thanked workers and volunteers, saying their work was “more important than ever”.

Camilla met people from agencies and organizations including the Police Service of Northern Ireland, food banks and Community NI, before meeting victims of domestic violence and their children.

He gave a short impromptu speech to those at the event, telling them their work was “more important than ever” and greeting all the organizations gathered.

“I think this is what is needed throughout the country. Thank you very much,” he added to applause.
