Prince William admits he’s ‘hoping’ to get an invite to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding

Prince William has admitted he’s hoping to get an invite to pop icon Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding this summer.

William revealed on Heart Breakfast today that Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Louis are fans of Taylor Swift and said they were in the crowd at Wembley for Swift’s Eras Tour in 2024.

Presenters Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston asked the Duke of Cornwall whether he had ‘received an invitation yet’ to the US star’s wedding, which is said to take place in New York on July 3.

William replied: ‘No comment!’ and smilingly added: ‘I hope and I’m sure there might be an invitation, but we’ll see, we’ll see.’

Mentioning that his daughter Princess Charlotte is the eldest ‘Swiftie’ among his children, the Prince said: ‘Charlotte is especially obsessed with Miss Swift.

‘We went to see him on the Eras Tour and he was amazing. We had a box at Wembley which was quite a distance from where the action was happening but the atmosphere was incredible.

‘You could literally feel the ground shaking while he was singing, it was amazing!’

Prince William, Charlotte and George even took selfies backstage with Ms Swift and her fiancé, American professional football player Travis Kelce.

Billionaire singer Ms. Swift has been friends with Prince William for a long time.

In November 2013, the duo made headlines when they took to the stage to sing a song alongside Jon Bon Jovi during a charity event.

The impromptu performance at the Winter Whites Gala evening at Kensington Palace was followed by a dinner at which the pop star and the Prince were photographed smiling, after which Ms Swift said William was ‘very funny’.

But Ms. Swift is not that close to American royal expat couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The singer reportedly stayed away from the estranged Royal duo, even turning down two separate invitations to appear on Meghan’s now-defunct podcasts.

In a clear indication of their lack of closeness – when Harry, 41, was asked about the queen of pop’s growing ‘feud’ with British singer Charli XCX in October last year, the Prince was stunned, with limited knowledge of the so-called ‘diss track’ drama.

During an interview on the latest episode of Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know, the American comedian asked the Duke: ‘What do you think of this Charli XCX Taylor Swift beef?’

But Harry, apparently confused, replied: ‘What?… Oh no’.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly not that close to the US singer; Harry was left stunned after the singer reportedly ‘disdained’ his wife when asked about Taylor Swift on a podcast last October.

Minhaj said, “No, this is serious, because even Charli’s diss song was a diss song?” he continued.

The suspected rift between the two pop princesses is believed to stem from lyrics featured on Taylor’s new album The Life Of A Showgirl.

“I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when Coke encouraged you,” Swift sings on her track Romantic Actually, in a lyric that many listeners interpreted as a pointed jab at Charli, who openly references drug use in her own music. However, neither party has yet confirmed who the song is actually about.

While Harry and Meghan are no strangers to the celebrity world, as a member of the British Royal and a former Suits star, there has been speculation for some time that there have been remnants of Bad Blood between the Duchess and Ms Swift.

Meghan is also said to be trying to round up some of the world’s biggest stars, including Taylor, for a female empowerment episode of her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, which was discontinued earlier this year.

However, a source close to the production claimed that ‘nobody’ ‘picked up the phone’, adding: ‘The show is not starting.’

They continued: ‘There is no such thing as Taylor Swift. No Beyoncé. Not even Hailey Bieber. And when you talk about women’s empowerment, that’s a problem. “That says a lot about its pulling power.”

And two years ago, during the recording period for her now-discontinued podcast Archetypes, Meghan asked the pop singer to appear on stage, even sending her a ‘personal letter’ in the hope she would accept.

However, the invitation was said to be “quickly” turned down because Taylor Swift’s representative declined to attend, the Wall Street Journal claimed.
