The three-day organic mango and jackfruit festival began Friday at the Nexus Center City Mall, bringing together organic farmers, consumers and horticulturists under one roof.

Organized to create better market opportunities for farmers associated with clusters formed under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), an initiative of the Ministry of Horticulture, the festival showcases the rich diversity of mango and jackfruit varieties grown in Karnataka.

Among those present at the launch were noted wildlife photographers Krupakar and Senani and Joint Director of Horticulture Manjunath Angadi.

Organizers said visitors will be able to explore around 80 varieties of mango and more than 35 varieties of jackfruit during the festival. The event aims to promote direct interaction between organic growers and consumers, while raising awareness about naturally ripened fruits and varieties specific to the region.

The festival also hosts live demonstrations on the preparation of special foodstuffs using mango and jackfruit, allowing visitors to taste and purchase the products. Traditional foods and snacks prepared by farmer families from different regions of the state are also displayed and offered for sale.

In addition, workshops on urban gardening and natural soap making using organic materials are also held within the scope of the event. The exhibition highlights the unique characteristics of mango varieties, their climatic suitability and the importance of naturally ripened products.
