Livvy Dunne reveals the reason it’s ‘really hard’ to watch Paul Skenes pitch

It’s not easy for Livvy Dunne to watch her boyfriend, Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes.

Dunne, 23, said watching Skenes’ field was harder than competing as a gymnast at LSU, and she was a whirlwind of emotions during the start.

“I honestly think I got excited a few times watching it,” Dunne said. MLB Network With Skenes. “I get nervous because I want him to do his best. I love him. Usually he shows up, does his job, does great things. But I feel every emotion when he’s out there doing his job.”

“It’s completely out of my control and it’s really hard because when I was racing, I was in control of my own destiny. Now I just have to sit back, relax and trust it.”

Dunne went viral earlier this season when he was seen saying “F—” after Skenes gave up a home run against Toronto Blue Jays star George Springer. The former LSU star attends many of the games where Skenes pitches and is an avid supporter of the Pirates with her boyfriend.

Dunne got a first-hand look at Skenes’ belongings as the Pirates star stepped into the batter’s box before leaving for spring training.

“I think all offseason Paul wanted me to be on the field when he was pitching. I put it off all offseason because it’s scary and everyone told me it was going to be very scary,” Dunne said.

“It was the last day of the season before we went to spring training, and he said, ‘No, come on. You’re going to stand there.’ I thought he was joking, so I stood up and froze.”

Skenes said it buzzed into his tower, which meant he was throwing it in and above his girlfriend.

Skenes said, “He was asking me too. He wanted to see it or said he wanted to see it, then the time would come and we would have to see if you were interested in it.”

The reigning NL Cy Young winner has been a mainstay for a Pirates team that has an 8-8 record and 3.57 ERA this season and is in the middle of the National League Wild Card race at 50-47.
