One dead, one charged with murder after alleged fight at pub in Melbourne’s west
A man who allegedly stabbed another man to death behind a bar in Melbourne’s west will appear in court today on murder charges.
Police confirmed the arrest of a 37-year-old Williamstown man on Monday evening following an argument behind a bar in Footscray on Sunday night.

Emergency services were called to the Courthouse Hotel in Nicholson Street after reports a man had been stabbed. Paramedics treated the 25-year-old South Yarra man in a nearby alley but he died at the scene.
It is understood that the fight broke out in the venue and then spilled into the street.
The Williamstown man was arrested “without incident” at Yarraville railway station on Monday evening and was interviewed by homicide detectives.
He has since been charged with murder and will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
“At this stage, detectives believe the parties knew each other,” police said in a statement.
“Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
