What would an average man do if he came home and found the woman he loved in bed with her 19-year-old son?

Will you come back with silent contempt? Explode with anger? To faint? Maybe all three in quick succession?

It’s a question that preoccupies Australians caught up in a real-life soap opera, yet another absurdity that’s hard to imagine.

Because when faced with this scenario, Levi Hilton, a Gold Coast builder, did none of the above, at least initially, but instead reached for his smartphone.

As he films himself opening the bed covers, he gets closer to his partner Jessica Te Huia, 38, and his teenage son Lorenzo from a previous relationship, who sleeps next to her.

You might think this is weird enough even for the video-obsessed age. Although what Levi does next isn’t really believable. Somehow managing to overcome her embarrassment, she decided not to keep the scandal within the family and instead chose to share the excruciating images with her 6,000 Instagram followers. In it, she screams at Te Huia: ‘Are you having sex with my son?’

Unsurprisingly, the images spread faster than an Australian bushfire, and now everyone from Darwin to Sydney is familiar with Levi’s love triangle.

Lest there be any chance for the chaos to calm down, Levi’s partner Te Huia, 38, came forward to defend himself; This has led some to point out that the whole thing is starting to feel a bit scripted, that it might be some kind of twisted joke. In fact, all three felt compelled to address the issue publicly.

19-year-old Lorenzo covers his face in the video viewed millions of times

Levi Hilton later posted videos and screenshots of finding Te Huia in bed with Lorenzo.

In the clip, Hilton storms into her bedroom at 4am on June 1 – apparently after opening the locked door with a butter knife – and asks her son Lorenzo: ‘Why are you in his bed?’

The teenager raises his arm to shield his face from the camera but doesn’t say anything. Turning his anger on Te Huia, whose eyes are still closed, Levi barks: ‘I knew you were a liar.’

Te Huia sleepily replies: ‘I’m not doing anything, brother.’ He then demands that she leave his house.

But Levi immediately fires back: ‘Are you having sex with my son? Is it you? Why is my son in your bed?

‘My 19 year old son…here’s the proof. The proof is in the pudding. ‘You’re wearing underwear with my son.’

Te Huia replies: ‘I always wear underwear, bro… I didn’t do anything, Levi.’

Since the video was made public, Te Huia has been subjected to an avalanche of hateful comments. Speaking to the Daily Mail, she confirmed she was in a ‘beautiful, healthy’ relationship with Lorenzo but insisted it only started three weeks ago, two months after she split from Levi.

‘His son defends me and is more of a man than he could ever be,’ he said.

‘Levi and I hadn’t been together for two months. Lorenzo and I, yeah, we started a relationship [since the split].’

Since the video was made public, Te Huia has been subjected to an avalanche of hateful comments online…

… but defended her relationship with Lorenzo, insisting we ‘find solace in each other’

Much of the online harassment Ms Te Huia received focused on her age difference. He said: ‘I would never in my life look at a 19-year-old and be impressed by a 19-year-old. But we found solace in each other.

‘I will raise my hand and say, considering this fact [I’m in a relationship with Lorenzo] And [he is] Son of Levi, I understand this perception and will own it. I can say 100 percent that I know what this looks like from an outsider’s perspective.

‘But Lorenzo did nothing but stand in my corner and defend me.

‘The way this man portrayed me is an insult to my character. And it’s so terrible that I’m labeled a pedophile or a rapist.

‘One, he’s 19 years old. And secondly, you don’t rape someone [who] in love with you And we actually have a really nice, healthy relationship.’

Meanwhile, Lorenzo said he ‘always hated’ the way his father treated Te Huia and that he had witnessed his father’s tumultuous relationships ‘over and over again’.

While she said that her father ‘put himself first’, on the contrary he insisted: ‘I always took good care of my family.’

Not content with just publishing the video, Levi’s impulse to ‘share’ went further. She decided to post highly personal screenshots of the messages in which Te Huia initially denied sexual intercourse with her son.

‘No, I didn’t [had sex with him]. ‘Ask him,’ says one of them. ‘We laugh and think it’s hilarious.’

In another message, he witheringly adds: ‘I’d rather have him over you any day of the week.’

Levi also saw fit to make public a text exchange with his son. Lorenzo declares his love for his father’s ex-girlfriend, saying she “holds a special place in my heart.”

She adds: ‘I truly love her more than anyone and anything in this world, Dad. I know it’s strange, but the heart wants what it wants.

‘I’m really sorry this happened to you. I love you and that will never change. Just don’t make this worse than it already is.’

Levi has now released a statement saying that although he is not sorry for his actions, he seems thoughtful.

He said: ‘I was completely caught off guard by a situation that suddenly turned my life upside down. ‘It was shocking, overwhelming and something I could never have emotionally prepared for.’
