Youth Trapped in Uppal Skywalk Lift for Over Two Hours, Rescued Safely

Hyderabad: A young man panicked after being trapped inside an elevator on the pavement in Uppal on Thursday night.

The victim, Rahul (20), who was staying at Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Boys Hostel in Uppal and working in a private firm, was returning to his hostel after duty when the incident took place. As he was coming down the 6B overpass elevator, it suddenly stopped midway, trapping him inside.

Upon being informed, HYDRA officials, Uppal police and fire brigade personnel came to the scene and started rescue efforts. It took more than two hours of effort to open the elevator doors.

A technician was eventually able to rescue Rahul safely around 1:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, allegations have emerged that the delay in rescue operations was due to the timely response of Krishna Construction personnel and HMDA officials responsible for elevator maintenance.
