Steven Spielberg’s bombshell UFO admission: ‘I now believe’ | World | News

Steven Spielberg said he now believes people who claim to have seen UFOs deserve to be taken seriously, pointing to what he described as a growing body of evidence and mainstream reporting on the subject.

The filmmaker, who has explored extraterrestrial themes on the big screen for decades, said he has never personally witnessed a UFO but has become more open to others’ accounts.

Speaking while promoting his new film “Disclosure Day,” Spielberg said increased access to video evidence, as well as testimonies from military and political figures, helped bring the UFO debate into the mainstream.

He said: “As young as I was, I wouldn’t have been exposed to the incredible amount of visual documentation of what was going on.”

He said the issue had moved beyond fringe arguments and was now supported by a consistent pattern of witness testimony.

“Seeing is believing, and until I see something myself,” Spielberg said on “The Daily.”

The director said he became more interested in UFO reports being discussed more widely in documentaries and public hearings attended by government and military officials, Fox News reported.

He said: “…I really feel like things started to move into the mainstream. After that, a lot of documentaries started being made, and I’ve seen them all; every document was made about it. And you can’t make a document unless people come forward. Now, not under oath, but a lot of people from Congress, from the military, started to come forward.”

Spielberg said his latest project stems from decades of interest in science fiction and extraterrestrial storytelling.

He said: “The foundation on which I build my science fiction story is a very, very reliable foundation, based on everything I have absorbed over the decades, especially in the last decade.”

“There is circumstantial evidence, not just in America but around the world, that claims that tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of people have seen things or have met people who have seen things,” he added.

The new film, “Disclosure Day,” starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor, tells the story of a whistleblower and a television meteorologist who uncover a long-held government secret about extraterrestrial life.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film marks a return to the UFO themes that defined earlier works such as “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and “ET.”

The film focuses on uncovering the fact that alien life has been known for decades, triggering a global effort to uncover the truth.
