Treasurer Daniel Mookhey slashes car, motorcycle registration, freezes public transport fares in cost of living relief
NSW Finance Minister Daniel Mookhey is delivering his budget speech and has promised it will be a budget driven by the “concerns of our people”.
First on the agenda: drivers and commuters.
The treasurer has promised to cap tolls at $50 a week for the next 12 months, cutting the cost of vehicle registration by $100 for each private car and $80 for motorcycles.
Passengers will also benefit from the advantages of this budget.
“We are freezing your fares for the 4.2 million people who take the train, bus or ferry every month. For the next 12 months you will not pay a penny more on public transport than you do today, not on trains, not on buses or ferries,” Mookhey said.
