Ammonia gas leak: Death toll rises to 18

The death toll in ammonia leak at a seafood processing and export facility in Tiruvallur district last month rose to 18, resulting in the death of one more hospitalized female migrant worker on Friday, July 3, 2026.

The latest victim is Alathi Maharana Juanga from Ghatgaon, Odisha, the Health Ministry said in a bulletin. Currently, 14 women are receiving treatment; One is on a ventilator and oxygen support, 12 are stable. A total of 51 people have been discharged so far.
