Wimbledon 2026 results: Karolina Muchova beats Coco Gauff in epic tie-break to reach final

Carolina Muchova saved a match point before coming through an epic tiebreak to beat Coco Gauff and reach her first Wimbledon final.

Muchova started the semi-final as the stronger of the pair but Gauff fought back and they could barely break away in a quality third set.

Gauff, a two-time Grand Slam champion, came back from 4-1 down in a tiebreak to score match point on her serve before firing a simple forehand into the goal.

Muchova also missed her first match point but it was she who eventually emerged victorious after a surprising 6-2 1-6 7-6 (12-10) win in sweltering conditions on Center Court.

The Czech 10th had reached four major semifinals before Thursday’s match against Gauff, but had only reached the final once – at the 2023 French Open, losing to Iga Swiatek in three sets.

But Muchova will get another shot at Grand Slam glory on Saturday, where she will face compatriot Linda Noskova or Ukraine’s 12th seed Marta Kostyuk.
