High-rise tower planned on long-empty block in heart of Fortitude Valley
A block in Fortitude Valley that has been left empty for decades is planned to be transformed with a new high-rise tower.
The 22-storey building at 186 Wickham Street will feature 180 two-bedroom apartments and a penthouse.
A cafe or restaurant with 194 parking spaces is planned on the ground floor.
There will also be a roof terrace with a pool, sauna, steam room and bar.
“[This tower] “It will increase the residential population in Fortitude Valley, support more daily activities and contribute positively to local comfort,” the application to the Brisbane City Council said.
The 2225 square meter block is used as a car park, accessed via Ranwell Lane, and users are charged $25 per day.
Organizers have long fenced off the border to advertise upcoming concerts and events.
W&R Property Pty Ltd has submitted a new development application.
Property records show he purchased the land in February 2022 for $12.7 million.
Plans for two towers on the site were approved in 2023, but construction did not proceed.
