As Labor gathers at nation conference, storm clouds brew

As Labor MPs, power brokers and party faithful gather in Adelaide today and are watched over by hundreds of lobbyists, they will be happy to know their party dominates Australian politics.

Labor leads the de facto one-party states in Western Australia, South Australia and the ACT, and is out of power in Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. It has more than 420 seats in parliaments across Australia, while all right-wing parties, including the Liberals, LNP, Nationals and One Nation, total less than 300.
