Nirmal-Based Man Declared Brain Dead in US After Major Accident

A 26-year-old man from Nirmal was declared brain dead by doctors after he was seriously injured in a road accident in the United States.
Nithyanand Reddy Gannu, who was involved in the accident in Ann Arbor, Michigan on July 18, belonged to Narsapur village in Nirmal district. He completed his master’s degree in Information Systems at Indiana Tech in 2024 and was building his career in the USA.
According to the fundraiser started by his friend, Nithyanand suffered serious injuries in the accident and was hospitalized for treatment. Despite doctors’ best efforts, his condition worsened after he developed a rare medical complication called cerebral fat embolism, in which fat molecules enter the bloodstream and settle in the brain.
Doctors later confirmed brain death, although he remained on life support. According to recent reports, the fundraiser raised more than $63,000.
