Berlin Pride parade called off after car hits crowds

A car crashed into a crowd near Pride celebrations in Berlin, injuring many people.

Berlin police were responding with emergency services to an incident in which a vehicle hit multiple people in the Tiergarten park in the center of the city near the Brandenburg Gate, the social media platform X reported.

“We are intensively searching for the suspects,” police said.

Hundreds of thousands of people had gathered peacefully in Germany’s capital for the annual Christopher Street Day celebrations, one of Europe’s biggest Pride events, before the incident brought the festivities to an end.

It was stated that police teams attended to the injured at the scene. The number and severity of injuries are not yet clear.
