Unique Initiative Helps Female Athletes and Footballers

In India, many young women find themselves at a intersection when it comes to higher education. Although the sports quotas in the colleges exist as a way for them through this exchange, the lack of permanent awareness and structured guidance forces a choice for these athletes between continuing to maintain their sports or continuing to direct their focus to academicians. Edukick Bahari is trying to close this gap between these young female athletes sports skills and higher education opportunities.

The attempt is through the workshops structured between Northern North India, where the students were introduced to the sports quota system in Indian colleges and informed about how to break. Sessions cover everything from the criteria of conformity and required documents to the list of colleges offering everything quota and their relevant application processes and timeline.

Moreover, every girl has the chance to get personalized guidance, so that combining sports with an academic background draws their way forward. So far, Edukick Naari, Khel Khel Mein Foundation (KKMF), Dribble Academy and Mera India Mera Adhikar (MIMA) has directly guided more than 100 young women in various NGOs.

In addition, the initiative also developed and distributed a handbook in regional languages, which offers a practical guide for maneuvering the sports quota process. As of September 2025, this handbook was accepted by six NGO centers in four northern states (Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan). For this study, the project was given between Top30 in India at the Nextgen Changemakers Competition of Deakin University and was entitled to the second round of the Arc Global Sustainability Awards (August 2025).

In essence, Edukick carries a simple vision: No girl does not have to leave her passion for sports to secure her future in education. The project aims to rewrite the future of young female athletes in Northern India by channeling medals and matches with high -level stones to higher work.

Vir Shrinagesh, the founder of Edukick Bahaari, is a national athlete and currently a PATHWAYS School student Gurgaon. He played in AIFF tournaments in the U-17 and U-15 categories.
