How robotic beehives use AI to protect bees from climate change

Bees are critical to provide plenty of food supply throughout the year, but the bee population is in great trouble.
Beewise, based in California, said more than one -third of the crops we eat is pollined by bees, but 40% of the bee colonies collapsed.
One reason for this is the use of climate change – especially stronger hurricanes, more frequent fires and more insecticides.
The wooden beehive was invented around 1850 for commercial pollination, but these basic boxes are not very protective and are not nutritious.
Startup Beewise receives a traditional beehive with AI and robotics. The company invented Beehome, a robotic, artificial intelligence -oriented beehive, which can be rented by breeders.
Beewis CEO Saar Safra said, “A robotic beehive is actually like a traditional beehive. It is completely compatible, so it uses the same frame, the same bees. We fill the robotic beehives and there are cameras watching bees in this robotic beeh.” He said.
The cameras connect with the AI software that follows each bee and defines their needs. The robotic apparatus can then treat bees according to their properties.
Bile, “So if there is not enough food in the hive, there is a food container in this robotic beeh and will receive some food supply to robot bees. Medicine, thermoregulation, very cold, very hot, there is a storm.
Last year, Helene and Milton Hurricanes only damaged or destroyed thousands of commercial bees in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.
Beehome can manage the same cost as the traditional wooden beehive and each of the 10 hives as robotics and saves breeders from labor costs. New generation products can significantly increase it-is a particularly attractive feature for investors.
“You will look at a Beehome, who can only manage 10 or more in a few years, and you will get more business margin and business profit from the same investment,” John Caddedu, the founding partner and general partner of Corner Ventures. He said.
Bile said Beehome resulted in 70% lower bee colony loss and healthier hives. There are already thousands of people operating in this field. He added that bile, income, device and customer growth is enormous and that the devices see 40%gross margins.
In addition to corner initiatives, Beewise is supported by Insight Partners, Fortissimo, Lool Ventures and APG. The total financing so far is $ 170 million.
