Akron, Ohio plane crash into residential home kills 2, ignites large fire

Emergency crews respond after a small plane crashed into a home in Ohio on Thursday, killing two people on board and sparking a massive fire.
The City of Akron Fire Department confirmed in a statement to Fox News Digital that the crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. local time in a residential area about 15 minutes south of downtown Akron, and that heavy black smoke was reported in the area.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), two people on board were found dead inside the Piper PA-28 aircraft.
Fire officials evacuated the affected home and a nearby home, reporting no injuries on the ground.
Crews remain at the scene.

It is not yet known how many people were on the plane and what caused the accident.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the matter.
American Winds College of Aeronautics, a local flight school, confirmed that all of its aircraft were safe and inspected in their hangars.

“American Winds is deeply saddened to hear of a plane crash that occurred this afternoon near Akron Fulton Airport,” the school wrote in a Facebook post. “We pray for the pilot, everyone on board and their families.”
