Albany detectives investigating after elderly man left in ditch with serious injuries dies in hospital

An elderly man who ran out before being found seriously injured at the bottom of an embankment in Albany last week tragically died after police appealed for help from the public.
The man was transported to Perth Royal Infirmary but died a few days later, Albany detectives said on Thursday.
The 84-year-old man was found seriously injured in a ditch off Link Road on October 13.
Police said they believed the man was running in the Drome area before he was found at the bottom of an embankment on Link Road at around 3pm.
He had serious injuries and was rushed from Albany to Perth, where he was kept in intensive care at RPH.
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses or information regarding the incident.
The man was said to be of slim build and was wearing dark shorts, a fluorescent vest and a white cap at the time.
Officers are urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen a male matching this description to contact Albany police on 9892 9300 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
