Sanjeevani, the Andhra Pradesh government’s health initiative that aims to shift the focus from treatment of diseases to detection and prevention, caught the attention of many officials and Ministers at a national conference held in New Delhi.

According to the press release of the Ministry of Health on Monday, June 29, 2026, when Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav told the meeting at the Central Council on Health and Family Welfare about the features of the initiative, many people asked for more information about this initiative.

The minister said the initiative will play a vital role in closing the gap in access to healthcare between rural and urban areas. Explaining how it works, Mr. Satya Kumar Yadav said that Citizen Health Screening will be conducted using 904 mobile health units and as a part of this, medical teams will conduct 41 diagnostic tests for each individual.

Each mobile unit will screen 20 people per day. The Minister said that based on the results, the risk of the disease can be determined at the individual and community level, and added that the program costs approximately 163 billion rupees annually.

Digital health records

Digital health records will be created using the data collected during the scan, which will then be used to send personalized alerts about medications, consultations and treatments to each individual through Digital Nerve Centers.

The minister said that the initiative was launched in Chittoor district in July 2025 and will be expanded to the entire state in August this year.

He also talked about integrating AI in healthcare services in the state, which led to the Union government recognizing Andhra Pradesh as an exemplary state in the use of AI in healthcare.
