Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter debuts bold goth look at Kentucky Derby

Dannielynn Birkhead, the 19-year-old daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith, made a striking entrance at the 2026 Kentucky Derby, turning heads with her bold, goth-inspired look.

Accompanied by her proud father, Larry Birkhead, Dannielynn wore a strapless black dress adorned with large white floral designs and a decorative black-and-white fascinator. She was accessorised with bangles and platform heels. His father wore a bright white suit paired with a black shirt and black shoes.

On Friday, the duo attended the exclusive Barnstable Brown Derby Eve party, and the woman’s dramatic transformation was pretty surprising.

She wore a Gothic dress from Punk Rave (an embroidered, strapless corset dress and a sheer flowing skirt) and platinum blonde hair with jet black at the ends.

“[She] “I wanted something edgy and cool,” Dannielynn told her dad. People from its new look.

A friend of her late mother Anna Nicole Smith’s (who is also a hairstylist) helped achieve this look by cutting her hair and adding crazy colors.

“I was getting myself ready at the hair salon,” laughed Larry. “I think he’s old enough to do whatever he wants to do.”

Although he admits he was initially apprehensive about her dramatic change, Larry quickly realized that this year’s look was all about Dannielynn finding her own identity.

“This is a different style for Dannielynn.” [are] She’s always looking for her mom to wear something. “She’s done it a few times, but it’s kind of like Dannielynn showing off her own sense of style, and she said it was a goth rock theme.”

For Dannielynn, this new look is more than a fashion statement; a way to honor his late mother while also showing off his individuality. It’s a way to embrace his “beautiful” mother, he shares Reach Hollywood.

The duo’s all-black look was a departure from the bright, more traditional outfits Dannielynn has worn at previous Derby events.

Although Dannielynn turned heads with her goth-inspired style, she wasn’t the only one turning heads at this year’s Derby. Other celebrities also attended the popular horse race in dramatic, stylish and elegant outfits.
