Annastacia Palaszczuk’s surgeon partner suspended from practising
Well-known surgeon Dr., who is a partner of former Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, Reza Adib’s medical registration has been suspended as he faces allegations of rape and sexual assault.
The Queensland Health Ombudsman issued the notice for the 65-year-old on Tuesday, saying it would come into effect immediately.
“The suspension of registration means that Vahid Reza Adib is prohibited from practicing as a medical doctor for the duration of the suspension,” the statement said.
Adib is accused of holding a woman against her will at her Gold Coast flat on March 30 and allegedly raping and sexually assaulting her.
His charges include three counts of rape, two counts of deprivation of liberty and one count of sexual assault.
The sexual assault charge states that he was allegedly “unlawfully and inappropriately assaulted.” [the woman] and indecent assault, which included contact with some. [the woman’s] Adib’s mouth and genitals, according to court documents.
Adib, a surgeon specializing in bariatric procedures, has been regularly photographed with Palaszczuk at high-profile events such as Logies and film premieres since their relationship began in 2021.

Adib, who set up his own bariatric clinic in Brisbane in 2004, was nominated as co-chairman of the Wesley Hospital Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery in 2017.
Uniting Care, which runs Wesley Hospital, told this imprint earlier this month that Adib was not currently accredited to perform surgery at the hospital.
