Australia’s data centre lobby stumbles trying to avoid real regulation

As I’ve written here before, Australia is among the best regions in the world for data center development. This overdevelopment in Australia is not the only obstacle to meeting climate targets, but it is significant enough to exacerbate pre-existing problems by stimulating demand for coal and gas in the electricity grid. A new data update from the Clean Energy Regulator published last week shows that the total emissions of large data center operators have doubled in four years:

The newly created lobby group, Australian Data Centers (DCA) has been trying to avoid any backlash for some time.
