Authorities issue urgent plea after 2 children allegedly abducted by father

Authorities in California are searching for two 9-year-old boys who investigators say were kidnapped by their father this week and warn there are concerns about the children’s welfare.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Solomon and Marozhina Sukonick, who investigators say were kidnapped by their father, David Sukonick, on Thursday.

According to authorities, the children were last seen near the 1000 block of West Avenue J-8 in Lancaster around 8 p.m.

The sheriff’s department said in a press release there was “concern for their welfare” and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Investigators said the children were last seen traveling in a black 2011 Lincoln Town Car with California license plate SOLOYST.

Marozhina is described as a 9-year-old white girl, 4 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing approximately 90 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing pink shorts and a white shirt.

Solomon, also 9 years old, is described as a white boy who stands 4 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs approximately 90 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing blue shorts and a shirt of an unknown color.

David Sukonick is described as a white man, 71 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 135 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

According to the New York Post, David Sukonick shared a photo of the children on Facebook on July 13. One commenter questioned whether the children were okay and wrote that they looked “distraught.”
