Prince Michael’s full name is a nod to the longest-serving president of the United States. He is Prince Michael George Charles Franklin of Kent.
Born on 4 July 1942, Prince Michael is the third child of Prince Michael, the fourth son of Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark and George, Duke of Kent. King George V and Queen Mary.
His father died in a plane crash when Prince Michael was just over a month old, leaving behind his wife and two older children, Prince Edward, the current Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra, the Honorable Lady Ogilvy.

When Prince Michael was born, he was eighth in line to the throne. His marriage to Princess Michael of Kent, 81, led to him being disinherited due to his Catholic faith.
However, he was reinstated when the Crown Succession Act 2013 became law. He is currently 50th in the throne rankings.
Although Prince Michael does not perform official royal duties on behalf of the monarch, he supports numerous charities and organizations.
He is Chairman of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Patron of the Army Flight Museum, Patron of the Russian-British Chamber of Commerce and the Maritime Voluntary Service.
