Trailer of ‘Border 2’ Released, Sunny Deol Leads 1971 War Sequel Ahead of Republic Day

Telling a fascinating story of patriotism, ‘Border’ returns with its sequel that revives the memories of the iconic 1997 film. T-Series released the trailer of ‘Border 2’ on December 16 to pay tribute to the Indian armed forces.

December 16 also celebrates Vijay Diwas, which commemorates the victory of Indian soldiers in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The film will release in theaters on January 23, 2026, perfect timing ahead of Republic Day.

Border 2 is about the India-Pakistan war of 1971 and pays a heartfelt tribute to the soldiers who defended the country. Sunny Deol returns as the lead and plays a dedicated Indian officer alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty in battle-ready avatars representing the three branches of the armed forces.

Quick cuts between battlefield shots, battlescapes, and heavy artillery scenes highlight the film’s large-scale production and promise to surpass the visual scope of the first film.

“Himmat hai to aa; ye khada hai Hindustan” repeats Deol’s fierce voiceover at the beginning of the trailer and sets a tone of intense patriotism. Dramatic slow-motion shots of the soldiers further enhance the emotional impact. Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 aims to deliver a heroic cinematic experience while staying true to the narrative of the original 1997 classic.

Within two days of the trailer’s release, audience excitement grew. Social media is abuzz with praise for Deol’s spectacular comeback, reminiscent of his spectacular action in Jaat and Gadar 2. At the same time, some viewers criticized the visual effects, calling them “artificial” and likening them to video game graphics.
