Storm Bram named and severe weather warning issued for 90mph winds

Weather warnings have been issued as Storm Bram is expected to bring winds of up to 90mph to the UK later this week.
The storm, which is expected to hit England on Tuesday and Wednesday, will bring the strongest winds to northwest Scotland.
Heavy rain and flooding are also expected, especially in Wales and southwestern England, where ground conditions remain saturated due to recent rainfall.
A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued for Storm Bram, as it has been named by Met Eireann, Ireland’s equivalent of the Met Office.
Between 4 p.m. and midnight, wind gusts of 70-80 mph are expected in the mountainous areas of the northwest, with gusts of 90 mph expected in some places. The meteorologist warned that strong winds would be accompanied by heavy rain and could worsen the effects.
It comes as the UK faces a series of yellow weather warnings for heavy rain and strong winds in the coming days.
Strong winds of around 50 miles per hour are expected in Wales and south-west England from 10pm on Monday until 4pm on Tuesday. The Met Office warned that winds of up to 70mph were possible over some open coasts and high ground in north-west Wales.
In the statement, it was stated that transportation networks may be interrupted due to delays in high-sided vehicles on open routes and bridges, and coastal roads and seaside areas affected by fallout and large waves. Wind can also cause power outages.
Flooding is also possible in Wales and south-west England, with showers of up to 100mm expected from 8pm on Monday until 6pm on Tuesday. The warning also extends to parts of Hampshire and Oxfordshire.
The forecaster warned there was potential for flooding of homes and businesses and warned that some communities could experience power outages.
A further rain warning has been issued for north-west England from midnight until 3pm on Tuesday, while a wind warning has been issued for north-west Scotland from 3pm on Tuesday until 10am on Wednesday.
The weather warning for rain also covers Glasgow and Edinburgh from 6am to 12pm on Tuesday; The warning for wind speeds of up to 70 miles per hour across Scotland and towards Manchester is valid from 12:00 on Tuesday until 06:00 on Wednesday.
