Collingwood star responds to rival AFL clubs’ interest

Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos has denied any hint he could be eyeing a swap move, amid reports rival AFL clubs are inquiring about luring him.

Daicos, who finished second in the Brownlow Medal for the second year in a row, has a contract with the Magpies until the end of 2029.

But that hasn’t stopped rivals from contacting Daicos and his management and launching daring bids for the 22-year-old midfielder.

“I guess it’s just that time of year, isn’t it?” Daicos said at Caulfield racetrack on Saturday. “I leave all that to my manager Robbie D’Orazio, he’s doing a great job.

“He always tells me: ‘If there’s something serious and I need to tell you, I’ll let you know.’

“He hasn’t told me yet. There’s always movement, but I’m waiting for the call from Robbie.”

Asked if Collingwood fans have anything to worry about ahead of Wednesday’s trade deadline, Daicos was adamant.

“I can handle this. I don’t think so,” he said. “As I said, Robbie handles all this stuff and I haven’t heard anything, so it’s business as usual and I’m on contract.

“I continue to put my effort and energy into Collingwood Football Club.”
