David Beckham, 51, swoons over French designer Jacquemus’ ‘beautiful and elegant’ grandmother Liline, 80, after she joined him at the Met Gala

David Beckham is swooning over Simon Porte Jacquemus’ ‘elegant’ grandmother Liline after joining the designer at the star-studded Met Gala on Monday.

Simon, 36, who launched his celebrity-loving label Jacquemus in 2010, shared a clip on Instagram as he walked the red carpet with the stylish 80-year-old man.

The couple wore stylish white Jacquemus suits for the event, which saw them travel from their native France to New York.

She wrote in her post: ‘I hesitated to bring you to New York… Then I imagined myself 80 years old. And I realized that this is the best gift of all: being transported to another place by our loved ones. What an honor.

David, 51, commented: ‘Your grandmother is so beautiful and so elegant.’

David’s son Romeo also made his Met Gala debut on Monday, but there was no awkward reunion with his estranged brother Brooklyn, who skipped the event.

Fans speculated that the Beckham sisters would attend the prestigious fashion event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

But in Brooklyn’s absence for the second year in a row, it was only the 23-year-old Romeo who graced the Met’s steps.

They were joined on the red carpet by Burberry’s chief creative officer, Daniel Lee.

Romeo cut a cool figure in his double-breasted jacket with leather collar and matching shirt and tie made of the same fabric.

Since the brothers haven’t spoken in over a year due to a family feud, Romeo was no doubt relieved to avoid the awkward red carpet encounter.

Shortly after his appearance, Romeo received a show of support from his brother Cruz, 21, who posted a photo of him appearing on his Instagram story.

David’s youngest son Cruz shared two photos on his Instagram Story showing him and his dad on a yacht and wrote: ‘Happy birthday love you xxx.’

Harper followed her siblings with this sweet post: ‘Happy birthday to the best dad in the world.

As expected, Brooklyn remained silent on Saturday as his siblings rushed to social media to wish their father, David, a happy 51st birthday.
