DCP directed to supervise probe into PoCSO case

Cyberabad Police Commissioner has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kukatpally District) Ritiraj to personally supervise the investigation into the PoCSO case registered at Petbasheerabad police station based on the statement of a 17-year-old girl.

As per the official order issued on Monday, May 11, 2026, the officer was directed to ensure that the investigation is conducted in a fair, proper and professional manner by examining all relevant aspects of the case, without any deviation or omission.

The order also directs the DCP to personally monitor the progress of the investigation and submit a daily status report to the Commissioner of Police.

The case was registered under Articles 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (PoCSO).

Meanwhile, the Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has also taken action. suo motu The issue became aware after widespread media reports and social media posts about allegations that a 17-year-old girl was sexually abused during New Year celebrations at a farmhouse in Moinabad.

In its communication, the commission said it took the allegations seriously and directed the Commissioner of Police, Siberabad, to conduct an investigation and initiate necessary action.

The commission also requested a status report on priority. The statutory body, constituted under the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, is tasked with monitoring the implementation of child protection laws, including the PoCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice Act.

This development comes amid ongoing protests by women’s groups demanding swift action in the case. Police officials said the investigation is progressing and all aspects of the complaint are being examined.
