DDMA conducts workshop on heatwave preparedness in Wayanad

A one-day workshop on heat wave preparedness, formulation of local heat action plans and monsoon preparation was held at Kalpetta on Saturday, April 25, 2026, under the auspices of Wayanad District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). It was inaugurated by District Collector DR Meghashree.

Ms. Meghashree directed the panchayat secretaries to submit relevant local hot action plans by April 30. He also said that elected representatives and Kudumbashree members should be included in the planning process. He added that the aim of the workshop is to ensure rapid response and adequate precautions in disaster situations.

Experts held sessions on topics such as heat waves, preparation and practical implementation of local heat action plans, monsoon preparations and precautionary measures to combat disaster risks such as floods, landslides and fire hazards.
