Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday, November 13, 2025, that nine more people were arrested in Assam for “offensive” social media posts following the Delhi blast, taking the total number of arrests in this regard to 15.
New arrests have been made since Wednesday night.

Mr. Sarma shared on X: “15 people have been arrested so far across Assam in connection with offensive social media posts following the Delhi blast.”
“In addition to the six arrests made yesterday, we also arrested Rafijul Ali overnight. [Bongaigaon]Forid Uddin Laskar [Hailakandi]Inamul Islam [Lakhimpur]Firuj Ahmed aka Papon [Lakhimpur]Shahil Shoman Sikdar aka Shahidul Islam [Barpeta]Rakibul Sultan [Barpeta]Nesim Ekrem [Hojai]Taslim Ahmed [Kamrup] and Abdur Rohim Mollah aka Bappy Hussain [South Salmara]” he added.
Mr. Sarma alleged that the Assam Police remained uncompromising towards those who glorified violence.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister said he had instructed police to arrest those who welcomed the explosion in social media posts.
He said that 35 people from different parts of the state have been identified in this regard.
“We will investigate their connections and if we find that anyone has connections with Bangladesh or any other country, we will take stern action against them,” the CM said.
Mr. Sarma said minors and those who did not know their devices were being used to make such posts would not be arrested, but those responsible would not be spared.
He said many have now deleted their posts, but “we have taken the screenshots and we will act tough on it.”
He claimed that it was the same group who protested against the government in Zubeen Kshetra and are now making social media posts welcoming the Delhi blast.
12 people were killed and many others were injured in a high-intensity explosion in a slow-moving car at traffic signals near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening.
