Delivery driver stole £4,000 worth of Ozempic from pharmacy wholesaler

A delivery driver stole more than £4,000 worth of weight loss drug Ozempic from the drug wholesaler where he worked to treat an eating disorder, a court heard.
Peter Daniel, 62, of Croydon, south London, appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday accused of stealing more than 30 boxes of medicines belonging to Cencora Alliance Healthcare, which distributes medicines and healthcare products to pharmacies and hospitals.
Prosecutor Michael A’Herne said Daniel, who had worked for the wholesaler for 23 years, was caught on CCTV removing Ozempic from different pigeonholes after customers complained they had missed deliveries of the popular drug between April 17 and May 5, 2026.
The court heard police searched Daniel’s home and found 34 boxes of Ozempic worth £4,080 in the fridge, with the retail value of each pack estimated at £300.
Mr A’Herne said he was charged with the highest degree of criminality because of the “high degree of trust” placed in him as a delivery driver.

“Medicine can be dangerous in the hands of someone who doesn’t know how to use or prescribe it,” he added.
Mohammed Bismillah, defending, said Daniel had an “impeccable” record at the company and used the weight loss pills to treat an unspecified eating disorder, adding: “He was using these products for his own use and not for commercial gain.”
Mr Bismillah asked the judges to consider imposing a collective sentence in light of Daniel’s early confession of guilt.
Wearing a blue sports full-zip sweater and a gray T-shirt, Mr. Daniel spoke only to confirm his name, age, address and enter his plea.
The sentence was postponed due to the reports and he will be heard in the same court on July 28.
