Starting May 19, about 9 percent of Delta’s up to 5,500 daily flights — flights between 250 miles and 350 miles — will no longer offer service in the economy cabin, a company spokesman said Tuesday.
Flights under 250 miles currently cannot receive service, and all flights under 350 miles last less than an hour in the air.
The leading U.S. air carrier will also switch flights between 350 miles and 500 miles to full service and offer all beverages and four snack options. These flights make up 14 percent of Delta’s daily routes.

“Customers traveling on flights of 350 miles or more on Delta Comfort and Delta Main will now receive full beverage and snack service, but shorter flights will no longer have food and beverage service – except for Delta First, which always receives full service,” the airline said in its statement.
The statement continued: “Even on the small number of flights without beverage service, our crew will continue to be visible, available and focused on taking care of our customers, as on every flight.”
