Major Trump update as Davos speech thrown into chaos | World | News

Donald Trump will be “three hours late” for Davos after his chaotic departure from a Maryland air base on Tuesday evening, the US Treasury Secretary said. Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF), Scott Bessent announced that the US president would be late because his plane suffered a “minor electrical malfunction” and had to return to base.

Mr. Bessent also touched on Europe during his speech, questioning why its leaders “didn’t just sit back and wait for President Trump to get here” and listen to his views. Asked what would happen if Switzerland moved away from the United States and closer to the EU, he said it would be “very disappointing if Switzerland decided to join the EU bandwagon.”
