Savannah Guthrie has pleaded for the nation’s help in her ‘hour of desperation’ as police race against time to find her mother, Nancy Guthrie, ahead of the upcoming $6 million Bitcoin ransom deadline.
Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother was kidnapped from her $1 million Tucson, Arizona, home in the early hours of February 1, and authorities confirmed they have not identified any suspects in the ongoing case.
As Nancy’s capture enters its second week, the ransom deadline for the Today show host’s mother is just hours away.
Local news station KGUN 9 reported that the ransom note demanded $6 million in Bitcoin by 5pm MST on Monday.
While agreeing to pay the ransom in exchange for her mother’s safe return, Savannah asked the public for help finding her on Monday.
‘We are in an hour of desperation and we need your help,’ he said.

Sheriff’s office investigating ‘new leads’
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday that its investigation has expanded and is seeking “new leads,” without providing further details.
‘Many of you observed an active law enforcement presence at Guthrie residences over the weekend. This activity will continue tonight and tomorrow as part of the ongoing investigation process, including expanding the investigation and follow-up of new potential customers, the ministry said in a statement.
It’s all part of the investigation process as the search for ‘Nancy’ expands and new leads come in. To protect the integrity of this criminal investigation, details of this process are not being released at this time.’
FBI takes over investigation of ransom notes as payment deadline expires
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced late Monday night that it is no longer pursuing the investigation into ransom notes received in connection with the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie and that they are now in the hands of the feds.
“The FBI is handling all matters related to any ransom note or communication related to the Guthrie family,” the sheriff’s department said. ‘Any inquiries regarding this matter should be directed to the FBI Office of Public Affairs.’
The FBI later released its own statement after the second payment deadline passed.
“FBI agents, analysts and professional staff have been working around the clock for more than a week to reunite Nancy Guthrie with her family,” a spokesperson told AZFamily True Crime Reporter Briana Whitney.
‘The FBI is not aware of any ongoing communication between the Guthrie family and his suspected kidnappers, and we have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case at this time.’
The spokesman later provided an update on the investigation, noting that “additional personnel from FBI field offices across the country continue to be deployed to Tucson.”
‘We currently operate a 24-hour command centre, which includes crisis management experts, analytical support and investigation teams,’ the spokesman added.
‘But we still need the public’s help.
Someone has one piece of information that could help us bring Nancy home. We need that person to share what they know.
‘Please call us at 1-800-CALL-FBI.’
Savannah Guthrie seeks help in ‘hour of despair’
Savannah Guthrie appealed to the country for help finding her missing mother as her family was in an ‘hour of desperation’.
‘We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly day and night to bring him home and find him. “He was taken away and we don’t know where he was taken,” he said.
‘I’m coming, I want you not only to pray, but wherever you are, even if you’re far from Tucson, if you see anything, if you hear anything, if anything seems strange to you, I want you to notify law enforcement.’
He concluded: ‘We are in desperate times and we need your help.’
There are still no suspects, persons of interest have been identified
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday night that it has still not identified any suspects or persons of interest in the abduction of Nancy Guthrie.
“Investigators have not identified any suspects, persons of interest or vehicles associated with Nancy Guthrie,” the sheriff’s department said in X.
‘Anyone who believes they have information that could assist investigators is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or the PCSD non-emergency line at 520-351-4900 or 88-CRIME.’

TMZ says ransom money has not been received yet
According to TMZ, the digital wallet allegedly set up by Nancy Guthrie’s kidnappers remained empty until an hour before the deadline.
This was one of the channels that received the original ransom note. Harvey Levin said Monday night that the kidnappers told him they would extradite the 84-year-old to Tucson, Ariz., within 12 hours of receiving the ransom money.
Savannah had previously said the family was willing to pay.
Blood spatter on Nancy Guthrie’s porch matches her DNA
Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that the blood found on the porch of Nancy’s home belonged to her.
“I think you all know about the blood on the porch,” he told reporters Thursday.
‘He’s back with Nancy, we know that. But there are still more items being sent.’
Billboards asking for information are coming to surrounding provinces
The FBI announced that it would put up billboards in several Texas cities and other nearby municipalities seeking information about the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
The digital billboards will feature Nancy’s photo, information, and a phone number you can call for any tips.
They will be sent to El Paso, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; Houston, Texas and Dallas, Texas; as well as in Albuquerque, New Mexico; San Diego, California and Los Angeles, California, ABC 11 reports.
FBI offers $50,000 reward
The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest of anyone involved in her disappearance.
