Tigress, Four Cubs Captured On Village Outskirts In Karnataka’s Hunsur

Mysur : A tiger and her four cubs wandering around the edges of a forest area were caught by the forest department, officials said on Sunday.
The big cat is believed to be the same tiger that allegedly mauled and killed a two-year-old child nearly two years ago, officials added.
Officials said the tiger and her cubs were captured on the outskirts of Gowdanakatte village in Hunsur taluk.
According to the forest department, the tiger was first spotted moving outside the forest boundary and was later captured in a maize field on November 28.
The narrow escape of two farmers from the attack four days ago led the ministry to intensify its operations.
Its four cubs, estimated to be about six months old, were found and rescued on Sunday morning.
They were found hiding in the fields on the outskirts of the village and were tranquilized, given basic medical care and transported to safety.
A senior forest official said the operation was carried out by the ministry’s task force with the support of four elephants. The cubs were later reunited with their mother, the department added.
