Emergency services swarm Golders Green bank as several people fall ill | UK | News

Police, ambulance and fire crews rushed to Golders Green in London this afternoon following the incident that took place in a bank.

Witnesses described a heavy emergency service presence around a branch of NatWest on Golders Green Road and a cordon firmly in place.

While reports from the scene suggested the incident was an “alleged gas leak”, the Metropolitan Police confirmed it was too early to determine if anything suspicious was going on.

In a statement, police said: “Officers responded to reports of people feeling unwell at a bank in Golders Green Road at around 3.35pm on Friday, May 8.

“Police, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service arrived at the scene within minutes and the building was evacuated. A number of people were assessed at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.” Mirror.

“It is too early to know whether the incident is suspicious or what is making people feel unwell. Specialist officers are carrying out further investigations at the scene and we will provide more information as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, we ask people to avoid the area as a precaution.”

The London Fire Brigade has been contacted for further comment.
