England player ratings: Which players impressed in Uruguay friendly?

James Trafford: He looked confident and had a calm demeanor on the ball in his England debut. He punched in well when a dangerous Uruguayan cross came into the area. 6
Tino Livramento: After his last appearance on the opposite side of the defence, he was given the chance to show what he could do at right-back. Reece James is England’s number one but Livramento is a very good substitute. 6
Fikayo Tomori: AC Milan’s centre-back hasn’t been tested much but has shown good recovery speed when needed and has worked well with Harry Maguire. 6
Harry Maguire: He went to the midfield with the ball whenever he had the opportunity. Good pass to Noni Madueke in the first half. He showed his experience on the international stage by taking the armband in the second half. A real chance to make a late payment to the World Cup squad. 7
DJ Spence: England’s left has gained width but there’s not much to do. After pushing up the field a Uruguayan counter-attack came past him. 5
Jordan Henderson: An orderly performance and not too many questions asked. He marshalled the midfield and gave instructions to the team’s less experienced players. 6
James Garner: The Everton man can be very happy with his first appearance in England. It’s a match that didn’t have the intensity of competitive play, but Garner did what he had to do. He was asked to pick up set pieces, which was a compliment. 6
Phil Foden: He tried hard but couldn’t do his best in a poor quality match. Ronald Araujo faced a really heavy challenge and was replaced by Cole Palmer in the second half. It wasn’t the performance he needed to force himself into the World Cup squad. 5
Noni Madueke: The Arsenal winger had a good exchange with striker Dominic Solanke and always looked positive on the ball as he moved to full-back, but was withdrawn injured in the 38th minute after a heavy challenge. 5
Marcus Rashford: Spence came into the center to receive the ball as he provided width on England’s left. He made an excellent run in the first half, showing off his speed by carrying the ball almost across the field. He was the only England player who looked like he could do something every time he got the ball. 7
Dominic Solanke: It was a flash of quality when he flicked on a Uruguayan midfielder before blocking England’s shot on the counter-attack. We played a good game with Madueke and saved the shot in the first half. He was replaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin. 6
