Ensure proper supply of seeds, fertilisers: AIKKMS

Demanding necessary and proper supply of seeds and fertilizers and pressing to fulfill various demands, including unlimited supply of fuel for farm activities, members of All India Kisan Khet Majdoor Sangathan (AIKKMS) held a demonstration in Dharwad on Friday, May 29, 2026.

The protesters, who held a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Dharwad, also urged the government to announce loans of up to ₹5 lakh to farmers under the Kisan Credit Card scheme.

Deepa Dharwad, president of Dharwad district unit of AIKKMS, addressed the protesters and said that despite the administration’s claims that they had sufficient quantities of seeds and fertilizers, farmers were finding it difficult to procure them.

He alleged that both the union and state governments have completely failed to provide Urea and other fertilisers. As a result, farmers were forced to stand in queues outside Raita Samparka Kendras, he claimed.

He said diesel was not available properly for tractors and other vehicles used in agriculture. Since the sale of fuel in canisters was stopped at gas stations, farmers were having difficulty finding diesel for their vehicles. At the very least, the government should exempt agricultural vehicles from such conditions by providing alternatives, he said.

Later, the protesters submitted a statement addressed to the Deputy Commissioner. AIKKMS office workers Govind Krishnappanvar and others led the protest.
