INTUC Opposes 4 Labour Codes
Hyderabad: All India INTUC president G. Sanjeeva Reddy, at the organisation’s 316th Labor Committee meeting in Bengaluru, where labor protection and social justice were discussed, called for the rejection of the four Labor Codes as they allegedly threaten workers’ rights, dignity and safety.
Sanjeeva Reddy said it was time to defend the rights and legal protections guaranteed to the working class. Describing the Labor Codes as “inhuman, unlawful and anti-constitutional,” he warned that their implementation would adversely affect workers.
Chief guest DK Shivakumar said that farmers, soldiers, workers and teachers are the four pillars of a progressive democracy and a prosperous nation. “Farmers feed the country, soldiers protect it, workers build the economy and teachers shape future generations,” he said.
Shivakumar said society can neither progress nor sustain itself unless these groups receive the respect, protection and support they deserve.
The meeting ended with participants pledging to remain united against policies they say undermine workers’ rights, democracy and social justice.
