One dead as train strikes van at level crossing in Teynham

A person died in an accident containing a train and minibus at a flat transition in the City.
The city police said that approximately 12:40 BST was called to the accident in Crossing in Lower Road in Teynham.
Medical officials joined, but said that a person was killed at the scene (BTP) British transportation police said.
There is a serious deterioration to train the services in the region with trains that cannot travel between Newington and Faversham and a spare bus service in the activity.
BTP said the accident was under investigation.
South East Ambulance Service and Kent Fire & Rescue Service also participated.
The South East railway said: “This afternoon, Aunt was mixed with a minibus at a level near Aynham.
“Following this incident, we work with emergency services and railway accident investigation branch.
“Passengers on the relevant train were transferred to another train and taken to Sittingbourne for the next trip.”
Southeastern said that the line between Gillingham and Faversham was not expected to reopen on Sunday night.
