Food delivery platform Swiggy now allows users to order items with the help of AI workflows. This means users on ChatGPT, Claude and Google Gemini can place orders by simply typing whatever they want into these AI chatbots. The basis for this connection is the open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows AI chatbots to work with external services and platforms.
The integration spans Swiggy Food, Dineout and Instamart and allows users to create shopping carts, apply coupons and track their deliveries directly through interactive AI tools. It will also allow users to get product recommendations, search for restaurants, compare options, add products to the cart, benefit from coupons, reservations and track deliveries.
Swiggy’s Instamart is said to be the first flash commerce platform globally to adopt MCP.

To begin placing orders through chatbots, users must connect the service to Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, or another AI chatbot via a custom connector service or app and provide the desired URL for integration.
“Conversational commerce” allows users to “simply express what they want, whenever they want, whether it is booking a table at their favorite restaurant or ordering drinks and snacks for a match viewing party,” said Madhusudhan Rao, Chief Technology Officer at Swiggy. “By bringing MCP to express commerce, food delivery, and dining out, we are removing friction from everyday decisions and providing a level of convenience, personalization, and enjoyment that makes on-demand convenience effortless.”
