First made-in-India C-295 carries out maiden test flight

The first C-295 military transport aircraft produced in India has successfully completed its maiden flight, the Indian Air Force (IAF) said on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

IAF is procuring 56 C-295 transport aircraft at a cost of approximately ₹ 21,935 crore.

Forty of these aircraft will be manufactured by Tata Advanced Systems Limited in collaboration with Airbus at a manufacturing facility in Vadodara.

IAF congratulated the entire team behind the successful maiden flight of the first Indian-made C-295.

“This achievement strengthens India’s growing aviation capabilities and underlines the Indian Air Force’s commitment to developing indigenous defense capability under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.
