Passengers traveling to and from London Waterloo station have been warned their trains could be delayed or even cancelled, leading to chaos for many. All lines have been “significantly disrupted” due to an issue affecting trains on the South Western Railway (SWR) network, affecting communications between trains and signalmen.
Travel disruption is expected to continue through the end of the day as operations and engineering teams work with signalers to find a solution. SWR wrote on its website: “All lines have been disrupted due to issues with communications systems at London Waterloo. Train services to and from this station may be cancelled, postponed or revised. Disruption is expected by the end of the day. We have been made aware of an issue affecting communications between trains and signalmen. This is affecting trains on the SWR network. There is significant disruption on all routes. It added: “Trains are operating under the signalman’s instructions while crews investigate. Our operations and engineering teams work with signalers to find and fix the fault. “We don’t yet have an ETA for when signaling will return to normal.”
