Game, set, match! Top British tennis star Katie Boulter secretly marries her fiance Alex de Minaur on final day of Wimbledon at a ‘low key and intimate’ church ceremony

British tennis star Katie Boulter secretly married professional actress fiancé Alex de Minaur in a “low-key” and “intimate family” church ceremony on Sunday.

It was game, set and match for the loved-up happy couple, who were both defeated in the early rounds while competing in this year’s Wimbledon tournament.

They tied the knot in a charming Leicestershire village near where Katie, 29, grew up and where her parents still live, the Daily Mail has revealed.

Local residents who heard about the silent nuptials described how they were ‘sworn to secrecy’, but few wandered around the church to catch a glimpse of the famous bride and groom.

The wedding took place in front of a small congregation of family members; but at the same time the men’s final between reigning champion Italian Jannik Sinner and German Alexander Zverev was underway at Wimbledon in south-west London.

While 29-year-old Katie ranked sixth in the world with her partner of six years, Australia’s number one player, 27-year-old Alex, she dazzled in her long white dress with her blonde hair tied up.

She arrived at the church with her future husband, dressed in a smart black suit, white shirt and bow tie, in the black Porsche Carrera his husband was driving, and she was sitting in the front seat.

The couple, who had unusually stepped out together before getting married, smiled as they walked in front of several well-wishers, first the bride and then the groom.

The couple’s wedding took place in the men’s final at Wimbledon, where Jannik Sinner defended his title in SW19.

The couple arrived at the church in a black Porsche Carrera and were married by a female minister.

Local people were prohibited from taking photographs.

Their nuptials, a source said, were “deliberately low-key” and “personal”, attended only by family members, and were followed by a celebration at a nearby bar, away from the public and media glare of the world’s most acclaimed tennis championship.

The newlyweds are set to become one of international tennis’ most prominent sports couples.

Katie has been Britain’s number one female performer for most of the last five years and is currently ranked second.

The duo have earned more than $30 million (£22.5 million) in career prize money and won an impressive 15 singles titles on the ATP and WTA Tours.

The couple, who announced their engagement in 2024, got married in a beautiful, Grade 2-listed church in Old Woodhouse, Leicestershire, near the village of Woodhouse Eaves, where Katie grew up.

Katie was said to be thrilled that her beloved grandfather, Brian Boulter, could be among the guests at the relaxed half-hour service.

A family member told the Daily Mail that her grandfather is currently being cared for in hospital and Katie is ‘extraordinarily close to him’.

He had arrived by taxi with a caretaker and was helped into the church.

He added that the player, who is ranked 60th in the world and suffered a surprise defeat in the first round of Wimbledon, was “happy to spend some time with him” after the service.

They are expected to continue their wedding celebrations in Europe with a party attended by their tennis buddies, family and friends.

The source said Katie, who is an ambassador for Age UK, was “delighted to be able to attend this special event”.

The female priest confirmed to this newspaper that she had married the couple late in the afternoon but refused to make any further comment, saying: ‘This was a private event and had to remain private. How did you find out?’

A local resident who knew Katie’s parents said: ‘Some people in the village knew the wedding was going to take place but were sworn to secrecy.

‘It’s not often that two good tennis players get married in your local church, but we kept it secret out of respect for the family.’

She added: ‘But a few of us wandered off and stayed in the churchyard, where a new patch of wild meadow had recently been planted.

The couple are expected to continue their wedding celebrations later this week with a huge bash at a secret location in Europe, attended by wider family, friends and tennis players from around the world.
