George Conway, the former Republican attorney running for Congress as a Democrat in New York, looks quite different in his first campaign video released Tuesday.
Many users on social media observed that Conway, the ex-husband of Trump ally Kellyanne Conway, lost a significant amount of weight before announcing his campaign for New York’s 12th Congressional District.
“Is Ozempic your sponsor?” asked one user who speculated without evidence that Conway’s transformation was a result of weight-loss medications.
Conway joins a crowded field in the Democratic primary race for outgoing Rep. Jerry Nadler’s Manhattan congressional seat. Conway relies on her rapport with Trump to set herself apart.

“We have a corrupt president, a lying president, a criminal president whose masked agents are snatching people off our streets, violating international law, and running our federal government like a mafia protection racket,” Conway said in the announcement ad.

“I know how to fight these people. They are corrupt, immoral people,” he said. “They will stop at nothing to rig the system for themselves. I’ve been fighting Trump for years and nothing can stop me.”

Conway has embarked on a dramatic departure from conservative politics since Trump’s rise in 2016. In 2019, he helped found the anti-Trump Lincoln Project with other former Republicans.
“I understand how people might be upset that I once supported Trump,” Conway said in an interview with the New York Times. “But if people really listen, my views, my philosophy, my values will always be the same.”
