Gold plated ‘Kalash’ worth Rs 4000000 stolen from Jain Temple in Delhi, second theft in one month; Watch video

According to a shocking news from Jyoti Nagar in north-east Delhi, a gold-plated ‘kalash’ (pot) was allegedly stolen from the tower of a Jain temple. The value of the kalash is around 40 lakh rupees. A senior police officer said the kalash weighed around 25 to 30 kilograms of copper and gold plating.
The theft was captured on security cameras installed in the temple. In the CCTV, the thief is seen using electrical cables to climb into the temple and steal the ‘kalash’ at midnight during Karva Chauth festivities. An investigation was launched using CCTV footage.
Similar situation in Delhi’s red fort area
This is a second case in which a gold-plated Kalash worth Rs 1.5 crore and other valuables were stolen from a Jain religious event near the Red Fort earlier on September 25. According to reports, the stolen items include a gold ‘jhari’ (pot) and a gold coconut weighing around 760 grams and a smaller gold ‘jhari’ weighing 115 grams studded with diamonds, emeralds and rubies. All of these are used in Jain rituals.
