Grand coalition on cards for Chalmers’ economic summit

Since the governments of Hawke, Keating and Howard, politicians have not been able to make long -term economic reform because of a mixture of political turbulence and negative campaigns of great expenditure.

Chalmers again emphasized the need for a consensus, as he encountered pressure to change the tax mixture to examine a lift to reduce Australia’s reliability of revenue and company taxes and to pay a lift to pay for such measures in GST.

“We are looking for good ideas and consensus, and we encourage the round table participants to create a part of this unit before sitting around the cabinet table,” Chalmers said.

The Australian Protection Foundation calls for a round table meeting to be sent to Chalmers this week, calling Henry an idea -free environmental action and a carbon price.

“Even without a price for carbon, the Fossils are weakened by subsidies of fuel use through mechanisms such as shadow price applied through the protection mechanism, mechanisms such as fuel tax loan plan”.

Henry also supports the taxation of fossil fuel exports to collect approximately $ 50 billion per year. Economists and green groups also discussed in favor of increasing taxes on oil and gas companies.

Western Australian mining companies have successfully campaigning against the Rudd government’s mining tax, and the recent state WA workers’ government to force the federal government to slow down new environmental protection.

The coalition’s productivity spokesman Bragg, the Senate, will open a two -year bilateral investigation on economic growth and productivity rates.

Bragg’s colleague Shadow Treasurer Ted O’Brien accepted an invitation to join the round table.

“If the government is serious about productivity, they will support a long -term process to develop and analyze the concepts of productivity and to keep the ambitions of calculation through a resident process of national parliament,” Bragg said.

“The main reasons for our negative productivity position are more likely to reveal the community by the community for years instead of days.”

The worker needs support from the coalition or greens to get legislation through the Senate.

The Australian Unions Council avoided commenting. For a comment, the Australian Social Services Council was contacted.
